About Locke
Name: Conor Magee
Who Am I: In-game I go by the name Locke, Outside the computer I am a student studying to get into university. I also play guitar for a local band, and in my spare time play basketball.
How long I have played Dransik: I have played dransik since I was aged about 9-10, since 2001, I'm 17 now. It was amazing to watch such a small game back then grow to what it is today.
What I like about Dransik: I love the style of game-play that Dransik uses, the community isn't that bad in my opinion just a few bad eggs. I like the PvP system but I never really PvP'd much, I like how guilds are run and hope the guild system grows in the future.
Plans with being the 'Lead' Dransik Reporter: I plan on helping the community battle issues within the game, which will hopefully help TheTyrant notice something that the whole community agrees on. It is also to bring attention to some certain issues to those who dont read the forums, through the news on the launcher.

CLASS SYSTEM
Locke
Monday, April 7, 2008
Dransik has had a basic class system right from the very start, with the basic Warrior / Archer classes for players
to choose from. In this re-release of Dransik the new Developer of the game(Thetyrant) has added many new features
to the game; including a new class, a mage.
I interviewed 3 people to get their views on the current class system and to distinguish between the flaws of this
system and the strengths. The following interviews took place with Brokon, ViVi and Rhythimicz.
INTERVIEW WITH VIVI AND RHYTIMICZ
Q. Mages seem to becoming a big factor in this game, what are your views on the mage class?
Vivi; who was the first mage on the server has had much experience with the mage class, and basically told me that
Mages are a slipping factor in dransik. He described mages: "They are over-rated, when really they are the weakest
class."
Vivi and Rhytimicz agreed on the fact that from the recent updates mages have been getting worse; from archers
recieving buffs, to their healing scrolls having a huge cool-down timer which is 60seconds. They both seen this
as an unfair factor, as mages have a very limited carrying capacity due to lack of strength and being able to hold
a very limited ammount of potions and healing scrolls. As mages are mainly intelligence based and not so much
strength and constitution, they suffer in the HP field. From this Vivi and Rhytimicz have a vivid point, that
mages have the lowest HP of the 3 classes and it takes 60seconds to use a healing scroll, unfair? You make the
judgements.
Q. What flaws do you think the current magic system has? (scrolls)
A clear point was made, and a realistic point at that; that scrolls should NOT weigh more than potions, logically
how can a piece of paper weigh more than a bottle of healing tonic?
Vivi then went on to talk about druids; druids dont do well unless you have a whole bunch of them, I was told that
7 million gold is needed to purchase a sufficient ammount of druids to help in battle. Vivi believes that this
price is outrageous and thinks he alone has spent over 1.8 billion gold on druids to date. (1,800,000,000)
Q. What would personally make the game greater for you?
Vivi
- "The fixing of alot of hacks in the game"
- "The fixing of druids too, essentially, and overall balancing of archers"
- "The fixing of the community, but that wont happen until the staff is more strict with more rules."
Rhytimicz: "Getting rid of all of the hacks; take out the sextant."
Q. What would be the downfall of a mage over warriors and archers?
As Vivi was the first mage on the server, he has most experience with the system and fighting with that class. He
told me that Warriors or Archers simply just need to attack a druid 1 by 1 and drag it away from the mage and that
is something the mage has no control over. He also stated that if a mage didnt spend the 7m for druids the mage would
be fighting with "Gimped strength, health and even weight capacity" and also due to a mages lack of constitution
they are far more easily poisoned that warriors. Another major downfall is the inbalance of armour; mages wear robes
which supply the mage with a very low Armour Rating.
I wanted to find out if a mage had any strengths over warriors or archers, Vivi told me "Mages have a great
advantage over warriors in close quarters, and against archers our only strength was being able to heal by 500+
every 10 seconds which has been gimped to 60 seconds."
Vivi then described the "10 bonuses" that archers have over mages and warriors as "Not right..."
INTERVIEW WITH BROKON
Broken told me that he thought it was great that there is now 3 classes in dransik, but they need to be slightly
balanced. He described the needed balance using a simple game "Rock, Scissors and Paper" 3 classes as such and
one always has the upper hand against the third he showed an example of this also below:
Archer < Warrior < Mage < Archer
I wanted to see how bad the inbalance is, so I asked Brokon to state weakness' and strengths of each class. He
straight away started by saying Warriors are the best class with their high HP, high hits, and maximum weight. This
give them a great advantage over archers, as Warriors can take many hits and catch up due to the stutter step.
Brokon said "But its not always about the system, it is best on a players skill in PvP"
He then moved on to mages by first saying "I think that mages overall are the weakest at the moment" stating that
the mages scrolls are absolutly disgraceful, with spells like 'Inferno' doing little to no damage which should be
buffed so mages have a chance to use spells that do damage in battles. The only thing mages are good for Brokon
told me, is rekilling with druids.
He moved on to the archers and jumped right on to the subject of the stutter step, he told me "The stutter step
shouldn't decrease every 20 dex, it should be like the rest of the classes and decrease every 5 - 10 dex, again
its all about balance."
EVALUATION
From my reportings I have come to gather that many people aren't happy in the lands of Dransik due to small problems
such as the inbalance of classes, if this information is true then a buff of mages is needed and a few minor
adjustments to overall balance should be fixed.
